A Very Merry Christmas & A Happy New Year...

Hello you! I hope you had the most wonderful Christmas and stuffed your faces till you couldn't stuff them anymore - as we all know that is what Christmas is best for!
It seems to be that Christmas has come and gone in a whirlwind, I still feel like I'm in the pre-Christmas mood - help! I'm confused?

I don't know about you, but I just cannot get my head around the fact that it is almost 2014! This year has completely flown by - although I must sadly say, I can't wait to see the back of 2013, it just has not been my year at all!
I'd be lying if I said I'm not excited to welcome the new year and embrace it to my hearts content, I'm really - rather cliche of me - hoping 2014 will be 'my year', onwards and upwards!

When I sat down to write this post, I wasn't entirely sure what it where it was heading - I'm winging it right now!
However, I have come to the conclusion that this is going to be my end of 2013 round up and pre-2014 resolution and hopes post.

To begin with lets round 2013 up...
Personally for me I went through a very hard time - I won't go into it and this is NO WAY a sympathy post - but I suffered for the best part of this year, only catching glimpses of times when I felt truly happy.
One of things that has made me happy this year is you! Yep that's right, every single one of you sweet little people who take your time to follow, read and comment on my blog. Every time I get an email about a new comment or follower my heart skips a beat - not even joking!
It's also the same on my themed Instagram account. I set the account up in April and no way did I think eight months later I would have two thousand plus followers!
So, I'd like to say a huge, massive, gigantic, enormous THANK YOU!!

As this year hasn't been the greatest, I'm determined to go into the new year with a positive, fresh mind.
I know we all make resolutions - that come on, don't always get stuck to - but I honestly really want to try to stick to mine!

First is my effort with my blog, as you have probably noticed recently I haven't been posting too much, that is due to personal issues however I lost a bit of the love I have for blogging and so I'd love to regain that and put loads of effort back into blogging.
Secondly, I want to have a more clear, positive mind and not let the small things bother me!

Next year is going to be quite a big year for me: I'll be turning seventeen which means I can FINALLY learn to drive! I'll also be taking my A-levels - which could impact how much I blog before summer.

I honestly cannot wait to tackle another year, so let's see what is in store!!

I hope you have an amazing New Year and I can't wait to see you next!

A Cosy Christmas Bedroom

As you know, it's officially December which can only mean one thing... CHRISTMAS!
As soon as the clock strikes midnight on December 1st I jump right into the Christmas mood - well truth has it, I'm actually in that mood from mid-september but shh!

I couldn't wait to Christmasify my newly decorated bedroom, I chose to go for a gold theme with overly-Christmasy bed covers.

To start with is my bed. I actually bought these sheets back in October (like I said I'm already in the mood for Christmas by then) but had them stored under my bed waiting to jump out at the right time. I then went and bought these two white pillows which came in a set, as well as a feature pillow which is similar to the sheets. To accompany the pillows and to keep warm in the cold winter nights; I also bought a fleecy blanket which has the same pattern as the feature pillow, you can just about see it at the bottom of the picture.

Pillows, sheets & blanket - all from Primark
I then took out the tinsel and covered my walls with it! As you can see, I have a washing line-like feature with hanging pictures on my wall. I've been meaning to get some fairy lights to go on top of them for a while but at the moment I've took to sprucing them up with some gold tinsel.

Tinsel - Tesco
Carrying on with the tinsel theme, I also put some tinsel round the mirror of my dressing table. I already had some fairy lights round my mirror, so I just twisted the tinsel around the fairy light to make the tinsel glow. As well as the tinsel, I also bought this cute little snowglob with Santa in for only £3 from Tesco!! Then, I decided I want to change the white flowers I already had in my little jug for some red ones, which I found at Wilkinson for £1.50

Oh look, more tinsel! I love this little tree I got, especially the faux snow - it's like having a snowy tree right next to me. Every year I have to have a christmas tree in my room or I just don't feel christmassy! I picked up this lovely tree from Next a few weeks ago and this gold star from Tesco to top it. I then put some thin tinsel around it to make it look all pretty!

Of course, at Christmas time you HAVE to have an abundance of fairy lights! I bought these snowflake design white fairy lights from Tesco (again, what can I say? they have a great christmas range!). I decided to drape them across my window and I love how they look when it's dark out!

Lastly, what's December without an advent calendar? I've had this fairy one for years now - it's a childhood treasurey, I was told as a child that at midnight of each night in December, Santa's chocolate fairy comes and puts a chocolate in for the next day. Now that fairy has decided to put all the chocolates in on December 1st (lazy mum)!

I hope you enjoyed this Christmas themed post, there shall hopefully (if I have the time as I'm very busy with work at the moment) be another one or two Christmas themed posts!
Hope you have a Merry Christmas and if you don't celebrate Christmas then enjoy the holiday you do celebrate!

REVIEW: Rimmel London Stay Matte Liquid Mousse Foundation

Recently, about three weeks ago I was in need of a new foundation and randomly I picked up the Rimmel London Stay Matte Liquid Mousse Foundation as it was the first foundation I saw and I thought, 'why not try it?'.

On the packaging it says; 'lightweight shine control' which I would say is definitely true, it is a really lovely moussey texture which when it is applied to my face it feels really soft and blends really well with a mattifying finish. I picked up shade 103 True Ivory which I would say is almost exactly right for my skin.
For the first week of using it I thought it was a really good quality foundation which gave great coverage and lasted throughout the day, however, two weeks later and my opinion has completely changed.
I started to notice that after applying the foundation and then my Rimmel Stay Matte Invisible Powder over the top (which I had done every time) there seemed to be a weird dry looking effect on my face, especially on the end of my nose.

As the days went by I started to realise there were dry patches coming up under my eyes, my eyes have always been really sensitive so I didn't particularly think much if it but decided to use an eye cream to hopefully get rid of the dryness.

Unfortunately, I then had an allergic reaction to the eye cream! Which caused my eyes to swell up horribly, going all red and itchy. Obviously I stopped using the cream and although I really shouldn't have I applied my make up as usual.
More misfortune came when my eyes continued to be puffy, itchy, red and dry - seriously uncomfortable and ugly.
The dryness has now started to travel down my face and I've come to the conclusion that it is the foundation that is making my skin dry as it has gradually got dryer whilst I've been using it.

Personally I wouldn't repurchase this product however I believe it would be the ideal product for someone with skin which is not dry prone, probably greasy skin.

Approaching Autumn

Autumn is my favourite time of the year; the leaves changing colour, the weather getting cooler, coats and jumpers being brought out of the wardrobes and layering becoming a necessity.
Back at the beginning of October when Autumn made it's first real appearance I went out to take some photos of the autumnal landscapes, I then went out a couple of weeks later with my friend and then a further couple of weeks with my boyfriend.
I really love the look of Autumn and thought; 'why not share the photos on my blog?' so here they are, it is only a small selection of the photos I took.

Angela-Roi Handbags

Recently, I was contacted by Angela and Roi who run the website www.AngelaRoi.com
They're an online handbag shop but with a difference; a portion of the price paid for each handbag goes towards a different non-profit health organisation. The organisation the money is sent to is determined by the colour of the handbag, they call this their 'Donate by Colour mission'.
What is also special about these handbags is not only are they beautiful but they are made with vegan leather too, therefore no harming of animals - I particularly love this fact.
Now, I won't lie when I say the handbags are on the expensive side however, as a portion of it goes to charity I really don't think that matters!

This shows what the different colours represent and send money to.

I'd really love to get the Sunday Dark-Green Tote as the colour represents something close to me however, with Christmas just around the corner and saving needing to be done for presents I can't fathom spending that much money just yet, but just wait until after Christmas and I have spending money Angela and Roi, I'll definitely be grabbing myself one of those bags!

I'm really happy Angela and Roi contacted me as I think their business is heading to a great future due to the fact they aim to help charities.
If you'd like to check out Angela and Roi yourself and learn more about the cause, be sure to head over to their website. Whilst you're there, give their bags a little nosey and let me know which is your favourite!

Good luck Angela and Roi!

OCTOBER Favourites

Oooh, I bet you're surprised to see yet another monthly favourites aren't you? No, I bet you're not really!

This month has flown by, in fact this whole year has! How are we already in November?! Anyway, I don't seem to have that many favourites this month as I just haven't even seen it been and gone!

My first favourite is the Bourjois Paris Cream Blush number 03 in the shade Rose Tender. My friend gave this to me about two weeks ago as she got given it but doesn't wear blusher, I was so happy and couldn't wait to use this as I have been on the look out for a good cream blush for a while. I also got given number 01 in the shade Nude Velvet, however at the moment that shade is a little too light for me whereas this one is perfect!
The blush is very pink when on the cheeks with a slight shimmer to it, I use my finger to swipe it across the apples of my cheek and then use a blending brush to blend it in and spread it slightly. I'm not sure why the picture of the swatch on my hand looks so grey but you can sort of see the colour, and then if you look in the last picture you can see how natural the blusher looks when on!

Next is this lipstick by Estée Lauder in the shade '82 Radiance'. I wasn't actually aware that is was Estée Lauder until I took the photos for this post, I originally thought it was Avon! Anyway, I really love the orangey colour of this lipstick as I think it's such a great colour for Autumn if you don't want to wear a bold statement colour, such as a purple or red.
I wore this through summer as well but I would say I've been loving it a lot more this month than the past few months. What is also great is the fact it is really moisturising, it's not a lipstick that you put on and your lips feel really dry, instead it feels like you have lip balm on!
I'm not sure however if this will still be available as I think this is quite an old lipstick that my mum had never opened.

Keeping in theme with make-up is this face wash. I needed a new face wash in the summer when I was going away (I always like to have fresh, new products when I go away, I'm not sure why!) I saw this and thought 'why not give it a go'. I'm not sure what actually attracted me to this, but I saw it and knew I had to get it. After my holiday I left it in my holiday wash bag until I ran out of face wash at my mum's, I knew this was still there so I dug it out and have used it everyday since. I love how it foams up when you use it so you really don't need a lot, and as I've been wearing more make-up recently, I use this to make my face feel extra clean which it does!

To go with the face wash is this face moisturiser. As I mentioned in my Autumn Must-Haves  I can't survive the day without moisturiser, especially face moisturiser! I'm in love with this My Skin one, it goes on smoothly and within minutes its soaked into my skin allowing me to do my make-up without the worry of it sliding off and leaves my skin feeling moisturised throughout the day. I've repurchased this a couple of times however, unfortunately I can't find it anywhere anymore so when this runs out I'll be on the search for a new face moisturiser.

Moving onto fashion, I only have two! The first is this boyfriend coat which I also mentioned in my Autumn Must-Haves. I bought it at the beginning of the month from Tesco F&F, and I absolutely adore it. I can't get enough of it so much so that I wear it with almost everything, although it isn't the thickest of coats, it is actually quite cosy. I didn't think I'd be into this sort of coat as they're supposed to be very drapey and unflattering, however, personally I think this coat is perfect as it has a slight going in at the waist and the way the collar laps over just gives it more of a flattering look. Unfortunately, I can't see this for sale anymore on the website however they seemed to have stocked up in different colours and variations of this coat which I may have to invest in!

Next we have... this tartan scarf, no surprise there! If you follow my themed instagram acocunt @wonderlandalice_ you'll have seen this scarf all over there recently. I wear this scarf with everything at the moment and especially love pairing it with my coat I just mentioned. I've always loved tartan (coming from Scottish heritage) so I'm ecstatic that it has come into fashion.

Perhaps a rather weird thing to have as a favourite is my iPhone. However, it's not the phone that's my favourite (although it is but every month) it's what I done to it, I hate the fact I smashed my phone as that's just not cool but I love the way I took to the positive of smashing it. You've probably seen this all over the internet like me, and when I saw that my phone had smashed (after the initial sadness and anger of smashing it) I thought 'hey why don't I colour it in?' so I took out my highlighters and coloured the cracks in, it's faded a bit now but I'm just going to colour it in again. Unfortunately, I smashed it again a couple of days ago as you can seen from the extremely shattered and uncoloured-in bit. This smash was a lot worse than the first one and whereas I wasn't bothered about getting it repaired at first, I think I'm going to have to now as tiny bits of glass keep coming out. That will teach me to keep a case on it!

Now onto non-item favourites.
First is a film of the month, again I haven't really watched that many films however, about a week ago I saw Rush in the cinema and I LOVED it. I really love cars (something you probably don't expect) and this film was based on Formula 1 and the true story of Niki Lauda and James Hunt. It made the film so much better knowing it was a true story, there were so many 'breath-holding' moments, I'd definitely recommend you see it!

I don't have a favourite song this month, instead I've been loving the whole of Flume's album 'Flume', their songs are really relaxing and soothing which have helped me a lot this month. I've also not been able to kick the song 'Why'd You Only Call Me When You're High' by Artic Monkeys out of my head, this is due to my boyfriend constantly listening to them however I couldn't say they aren't a good band!

My favourite app of the month would have to be Mallzee, I won't go into too much detail as I wrote a review about it here so if you want to find out more just check that out! I've really been getting into it though since downloading it and it is such a fun way to waste time.

Next, my favourite 'random' of the month would have to be my diary/journal. I love to keep a diary and I write in it almost everyday, it's full of how I feel and I find it such a good way of getting things off my chest before it builds up inside of me. It's really helped me through the month of October.

Lastly, my favourite day.

My favourite day of October would have to be the day I went out spontaneously with my little sister into the fields and took some photos. I love spontaneous trips out especially with my camera to capture some things I might not necessarily capture. What made it extra special though was being out with my little sister, we don't always get on but that day I said 'come on we're going for a walk get your coat on' and we actually had a really nice couple of hours together without bickering. It was also nice to see the leaves starting to change colour - this was at the beginning of October so now the leaves have completely changed.

That's it for this months favourites. I'm so excited that it's now November as that means we're one month closer to Christmas which is my favourite time of the whole year!

Read my last months favourites here.
